The striking facade of the Mercedes-Benz
Museum in Stuttgart is made of aluminum and glass.
Not that you
ever need a reason to go to Europe, but here’s
a new sight in Stuttgart, Germany: the 154-foot Mercedes-Benz
Museum that opened in May. Designed by the acclaimed Dutch
architectural firm UN Studio, the sleek structure is a
fitting tribute to the impressive history and legacy of
the Mercedes brand.
From the top floor, car lovers can follow spiraling ramps
down through nine double-helix designed floors to view
more than 1,500 exhibits covering 120 years of Mercedes
history. The collection includes some of the brand’s rarest
cars, including the first Mercedes of 1902, race cars like
the Blitzen-Benz, the “Grand Mercedes” Type 770
used by the Emperor Hirohito and Grace Kelly’s sexy
1958 190 SL roadster.
