Biography

Carroll Baker is an award-winning American actress.

Background:
After leaving her hometown of Johnstown, PA, Carroll Baker got her start in the spotlight by working as a dancer and a magician’s assistant before beginning her film career in 1953 with Easy to Love. She later moved on to working on legendary films such as Giant (1956), in which she starred opposite Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and James Dean and in 1957 she won an Academy Award for Most Promising Newcomer alongside Jayne Mansfield and Natalie Wood. Her most notable film, Baby Doll (1956), garnered her a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Other films include How the West Was (1962), The Carpetbaggers (1964), Harlow (1965), Star 80 (1983), Ironweed (1987) and Kindergarten Cop (1990) amongst many others.

Carroll Baker has written three books and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
