Evelyn Lauder has received numerous citations for her outstanding achievements, and was named the first recipient of Cosmetic Executive Women’s (U.S.) Inner Beauty Award and the winner of Cosmetic Executive Women’s (United Kingdom) Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as the Brooke Astor Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Advancement of Science, the American Society of Perfumers’ Living Legend Award and the Alice Paul Award, all in 2003. In 2002, she was appointed an Honorary Trustee of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and was named a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor by the government of France, as well as a winner of the Gold Medal presented by The Spanish Institute. In 2001, she was presented with The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering’s Award for Excellence in Philanthropy, and The National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations’ prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor. In addition, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) presented her with its Humanitarian Award at the 20th Annual American Fashion Awards in June.
Other honors include being named by Glamour magazine as one of 1999’s Women of the Year, and in 1994, by the International Woman’s Forum as the New York Forum’s Woman Who Has Made A Difference. She and Mr. Lauder were the 1993 recipients of the Greater New York Chapter of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives’ Philanthropists of the Year Award. In 2004, Mrs. Lauder was conferred an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters by her alma mater, Hunter College, City of New York.
