Background:
Prior to the merger of The Bank of New York Company, Inc. and Mellon Financial Corporation in July 2007, Mr. Hassell was President of The Bank of New York. Since joining The Bank of New York's Management Development Program more than three decades ago, Mr. Hassell has held a number of key leadership positions in securities servicing, corporate banking, credit, strategic planning and administrative services. He was named to The Bank of New York's senior planning committee in 1994, and elected to its Board of Directors in 1998.
