Background: Joe Peyronnin has worked as both an executive and an awarding winning producer in broadcast news for 35 years, including the U.S. Spanish language market. Since January 2006 he has worked as a corporate advisor to VFinity.
From 1999-2006 he was Executive Vice President News and Information Programming for Telemundo network (NBC/Universal) a Spanish language broadcaster. There he created the Telemundo network news division in 2000, and developed and launched a morning news program, the weekend news, a weekday newsmagazine and a weekly news magazine. From 1997 to 1999 he worked as senior counselor with Osgood O’Donnell and Walsh, a corporate communications and consulting firm. Prior to that assignment he served as President Fox News, in 1995 and 1996, where he built the news organization that became the core for the Fox News Channel and he created Fox News Sunday, a public affairs program broadcast on the Fox network.
Peyronnin spent 25 years as a producer and executive at CBS. From 1989 to 1995 he was Vice President and Assistant to the President CBS News. His responsibilities included executive in charge of 60 MINUTES, 48 HOURS, THE CBS EVENING NEWS and other regularly scheduled and special news programming, as well as world wide news gathering for CBS News. He was instrumental in creating CBS News Productions, which produces informational and archival-based programming for cable networks. From 1987-1989 he was Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief of CBS News, prior to that he had been Deputy Washington Bureau Chief. From 1982-1986 He was the Senior Washington Producer for the CBS Evening News and from 1979-1982 he was a Washington based producer for The CBS Evening News. As a producer he regularly covered the White House and Congress, and traveled extensively throughout the world covering major news stories. He began his career in Chicago, his hometown. From 1976-1979 he was Associate Producer for the CBS News Chicago Bureau. Before joining CBS News Peyronnin worked in news at CBS’s Chicago station, WBBM-TV. From 1975-1976 he was Assignment Manager, in charge of all news coverage, assignments and field personnel. From 1972-1975 he produced the WBBM-TV evening hour long newscast. He also produced breaking and planned news specials, as well as the station’s Sunday public affairs broadcast. From 1970-1972 he was an assignment editor at WBBM where h coordinated news coverage and dispatched reporters and crews. He began his television career at WBBM as a copyboy in 1970.
