Ms. Garcia got her start in the fashion industry in the early '90s, working in the public relations department for Perry Ellis and its then head designer, Marc Jacobs. She then moved to Mirabella magazine as assistant stylist and market editor and ultimately found herself at Elle, moving up the ranks until she became fashion director in 2000 until April 2008.
Ms. Garcia is also the author of two books: The Little Black Book of Style (Harper Collins, 2006) and The One Hundred: A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own (Harper Collins, 2008).
