Biography

Robert I. Toll is chairman and chief executive officer of Toll Brothers Inc., a Fortune 500 company and the leading builder of luxury homes in the United States. 

Education:
Robert Toll earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cornell University in 1963, and was awarded his LLB degree cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1966.

Personal:
Mr. Toll and his wife Jane Toll reside in Bucks County, PA, located north of Philadelphia. They have five children and nine grandchildren. 

Background:
Toll Brothers, founded in 1967, develops luxury residential communities in 20 states throughout the nation.  The company is in the Fortune 500 this year, ranking 36th among all companies in 10-year earnings per share growth; and the Company’s total return to investors ranked 20th for the ten-year period from 1994 to 2004, within the Fortune 500.

Toll was named one of Barron's Top 30 CEOs worldwide in 2005, when the publication recognized him as the "the undisputed king of high-end housing." Toll also was named CEO of the Year by Builder Magazine in 2005.
 
Bob was named Cornell Entrepreneur of the year in 2005, given annually to a Cornell Graduate who best exemplifies entrepreneurial achievement, community service, and high ethical standards.  A committee of Cornell alumni, faculty, and students reviews the nominations and selects the recipient.

In addition to his dedication to family and business, Mr. Toll is a sailing enthusiast and offshore racer, an avid skier, tennis player, golfer, and history buff. 

Affiliations/Honors/Awards

Mr. Toll is also devoted to numerous nonprofits. He and his wife are especially dedicated to Seeds of Peace. This organization works to secure lasting peace in the Middle East and other regions of conflict by equipping the next generation with the tools to make peace.

In 1990, the Tolls sponsored 58 third graders in a program called Say Yes to Education which is affiliated with the University Of Pennsylvania Graduate School Of Education. They guaranteed a college education to the 58 students and provided counseling, instructional aid, and summer programs.  An unprecedented number of the students graduated from high school and college and are now at work, college, or graduate school.

Mr. Toll has been a long-time fundraiser for the American Red Cross and now the American Cancer Society.  Mr. Toll serves on the Board of Directors of the Cornell Real Estate Council, Seeds of Peace, Beth Shalom Synagogue, and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he established the Albert & Sylvia Toll Scholarship Foundation, which provides scholarships to students attending the Law School.  Most recently, Mr. Toll joined the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Opera, for which Toll Brothers sponsors the Metropolitan Opera International Radio Broadcasts.
