William Hayes is the Producting Artistic Director of Palm Beach Dramaworks.
Background: William Hayes began his career as an actor, director and scenic designer in his hometown of Syracuse, New York and is a founding member of Palm Beach Dramaworks. Mr. Hayes has an extensive list of directing credits including such Palm Beach Dramaworks productions as Painting Churches, Camping with Henry and Tom, the world premiere production of The Velveteen Undertow, Driving Miss Daisy, The American Dream, The Road to Mecca, Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar & Grille, 'night, Mother (Carbonell nominated as Best Director), Seascape, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (5 Carbonell nominations, including Best Director and Best Play), The Price, The Subject Was Roses, Agnes of God, and the 2008 acclaimed production of A Moon for the Misbegotten.
He is a thirty year veteran stage actor; recent Palm Beach Dramaworks roles include Cradeau in No Exit, and Norman in The Dresser (Curtain Up Award, Carbonell Award nomination, Best Actor). Mr. Hayes was named Best Stage Actor in 2004 by New Times Magazine.

Also a playwright, he is the recipient of the 2002 Charles M. Getchell Award, a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, and serves as a play writing adjudicator for the Southeastern Theatre Conference. Mr. Hayes was recently appointed to the City of West Palm Beach Cultural Affairs Council, and is a newly elected board member of the Economic Forum of Palm Beach County. |
