A highlight of the Dolder Grand Hotel's recent four-year, $400 million renovation, the Dolder Grand Spa offers European therapies with Japanese influences and Swiss-style service, for relaxation and enhancement of the body, mind and spirit. |
Sylvia Sepielli developed the concept for this new 43,000 square-foot spa and worked with interior design firm United Designers and architects Foster and Partners to make her vision a reality. The Dolder Grand Spa features exclusive areas for ladies and gentlemen, an Aqua Zone with a Bisazza Mosaic pool, a Snow Paradise room, distinctive workout, movement and mind/body studios, and 19 treatment rooms as well as two exclusive spa suites. The spa opened along with the hotel in April 2008.
Sylvia Sepielli, owner and President of Sylvia Planning and Design (SPAd) is widely renowned as a visionary in her field. Drawing on 20 years of design experience and intensive training in the healing arts, Sepielli focused her first European project on giving clients pampering, beautifying, vitalizing and relaxing experiences. The spa menu is described as "classic traditions with a techno beat," combining international influences for massages and body rituals, therapies for the body and mind, grooming and facials as well as day spa programs and medical wellness in a modern setting. All treatments utilize body and beauty products by Kerstin Florian, La Prairie or Kenzoki.
At the Dolder Grand Spa, the ladies and gentlemen's separate areas are decorated with "cat's-eye" glass tiles in a range of colors. Each feature Kotatsu Footbaths, Sauna, Cold Pool, Aroma Pool, Steam Bath, Solarium, and relaxation rooms.
The Aqua Zone at The Dolder Grand Spa comprises a Bisazza Mosaic infinity pool with stunning views of the Alps and several relaxation spaces including Sunaburo (Japanese-inspired heated pebble baths); a Snow Paradise Room where 12 inches of snow made from water and cold air falls daily; and a "chillout" room with basket chairs which hang suspended from the ceiling.
A sanarium and steam bath round out the offerings in this area of the spa, which is for ladies and gentlemen's use.
The Dolder Grand Spa features two exclusive spa suites for the ultimate in privacy. These suites are each luxuriously appointed, with mother of pearl walls, two treatment beds, a mud bath, whirlpool, snail-shaped shower, lounge, fireplace and flat screen televisions. The larger of the two spa suites also features a sanarium.
The spa also features professional Medical Wellness, with specialists from the Aesthetic Link medical network available for advice and treatments including anti-aging, cosmetic dermatology, cosmetic plastic surgery and products from the exclusive brand Clinica Ivo Pitanguy of Brazil.
Additionally, an exclusive hair styling salon from En Vogue working with the Kérastase institute, is located at the Dolder Grand Spa, and is only the second such studio in Switzerland. Here guests are offered professional analysis of the hair and scalp, with four distinct treatments available.
The Dolder Grand Spa continues an enduring tradition of health and wellness at The Dolder Grand, which sprang to life as a "Kurhaus" (health-spa) for the citizens of Zurich back in 1899.
