The
tropical glow of tiki-torches guided guests through the grounds of
the legendary Mar-A-Lago Beach Club in Palm Beach. More than 300
attendees closed out the year during the poolside celebration
on December 30, 2008 at the Young Friends of the American Red Cross
Beach Bash.
Dancing to the festive tunes of the New York City native Alex Donner
Contemporary Band, party-goers lined up to capture candid shots in
the vintage style booth provided by Photo Booth Social while enjoying
delectable BBQ beach bites and sipping signature martinis. Adding
to the glamour and excitement of the evening, surprise celebrity
guest appearances were made by business and media magnate Donald
Trump and legendary boxing promoter Don King.
Attendees included Donald Trump; Don King; co-chair Bobby Leidy;
co-chair Elizabeth Meigher; co-chair Terri Mersentes; Nancy and Bill
Rollnick; Grace Meigher and Chris Meigher; Emma Pulitzer; Charlotte
Pulitzer; Colleen Orrico; Nanci Gabay; Benedict Ives; Stephanie Katz;
Chris Leidy; Adam Boalt; Storey Cowles; Larry Casey; Daniella
Ortiz and Alfredo Ortiz.
With its rich history amidst the Palm Beach social scene, the Young
Friends Beach Bash's recent reprisal is the brainchild of Bill
and Nancy Rollnick, chairmen of 2009 International Red Cross Ball.
Initiated in 1972 by the late Helen Rich, Palm Beach resident and
public relations master; Sally Fenlon-Young, wealthy socialite; and
H. Loy Anderson, noted banker and Palm Beach resident, the event
was known simply as the Young Friends of the Red Cross. The Greater
Palm Beach Area Chapter of the American Red Cross hope to reinstate
its tradition as a venue for the next generation of Palm Beach and
New York philanthropists to initiate and fortify relationships with
local causes.
