Department of Homeland Security Canine Team.
|
On
November 13, The Animal Medical Center (AMC)
of New York held its annual TOP DOG dinner
dance and fund-raiser at The Rainbow Room in
New York City. A total of $1 million was
raised for New York's “Mayo Clinic for
animals.”
Approximately 300 guests gathered to support The
AMC, and honor Elaine and Kenneth Langone,
who received the 2007 Top Dog Award for their deep
personal commitment to The AMC, and for their generosity
in enabling the expansion of the Emergency Medicine
and Critical Care Unit. Hosts of the gala evening
were Eliza and Alexander
Bolen.
The evening began with cocktails at 7:00 PM, followed
by dinner and dancing at 8:00 PM in The Rainbow Room
Ballroom. TOP DOG attendees
met three canine teams that work for the Department
of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection,
John F. Kennedy International Airport -- Agriculture
Canine Specialists James Armstrong and
beagle Rolo; Kemraj Raghoo and beagle Brodie; and Tasha
Lero and beagle Banjo. These
teams were also given 2007 Top Dog Awards.
Notable guests included Oscar and Annette
de la Renta, Henry and Nancy Kissinger, Dr. Henry
Kaufman, Professor Iris Love, Robert and Barbara Liberman,
Rodman and Jackie Drake, Neil and Libby McCarthy,
Emily Brill, Duane Hampton and many others.
The not-for-profit Animal Medical Center recently
welcomed Dr. Jeffrey Klausner as
the new President and CEO, along with his wife, Diane. The
AMC is New York City's largest facility for animal
care, research, and education. With over 50,000 patient
visits annually, The AMC is open 24 hours a day,
