Chicago Botanic Garden Summer Dinner Dance

Cocktails were served on the Esplanade.

The Chicago Botanic Garden's fourth annual Summer Dinner Dance raised nearly $500,000 for the Garden's education and research programs. More than 500 glamorous partygoers from Chicago and the North Shore attended the black-tie soiree on June 22. The Committee for The Summer Dinner Dance was chaired by Mr. and Mrs. Andrew McNally IV and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Canmann.

The Joe Vito Trio played as the co-chairs greeted guests in the Esplanade, where cocktails and hors d'oeuvres were served. A topiary heron made of white daisies graced a runway leading to Waterside Terrace and breathtaking views of the Smith Fountain. Calihan Catering, Inc. catered dinner, served in an elegant pavilion decorated with silver chandeliers filled with white daisies. Bill Heffernan, Chicago's renowned floral and event designer, along with event co-chairs, created the beautiful setting. The City Lights Orchestra played for guests while they danced late into the night. Two thousand luminaries lit the paths through the gardens to Lake Cook Road.
