On
September 15, the Guild of the Chicago Botanic
Garden held its Ninth Annual Harvest Ball
on the beautiful, late summer grounds of the Chicago
Botanic Garden. Over 575 guests attended, raising over
$477,000 for Garden projects.
The black tie garden party began with a cocktail reception
and silent auction in the Rose Garden. Dinner, followed
in a tent on the Esplanade. The event design featured
centerpieces with an eclectic mix of floral, fruit,
vegetables, branches and thistle in shades of purple,
teal, blue and green. Grapevine orbs lit with white
Italian lights were suspended from the ceiling, washed
in magenta and purple hues.
The Harvest Ball was co-chaired by Guild members Julie
O’Connor and Eve Rogers.
The annual Ball, attended by Chicago’s civic leaders,
has raised more than 2.6 million to date for the Garden’s
education, environmental and children’s programs.
Established in 1998, the Guild supports the Garden through
service projects, as well as fund-raising events. Led
by co-presidents Michael Busch and Anne
Loucks, the group has more than 100 members
representing a diverse collection of young leaders from
the Chicago area.
