May 30, The Children's
Health Fund (CHF) hosted its sold-out 20th
Anniversary Gala that raised $2.2
million at the Hilton New York featuring a performance
by Grammy-Award winning singer Marc Anthony. Jennifer
Lopez made a special appearance, introducing
her husband, talking about the importance of The Children's
Health Fund's mission and their
shared commitment to the organization. Marc Anthony
and Jennifer Lopez are co-chairs of CHF's 20th
Anniversary Committee.
The Children's Health Fund presented former President
Bill Clinton with the Humanitarian Award
for his long-standing commitment to the well-being
of children and families in the U.S. and around the
world. In addition, Wyeth
chairman and CEO Robert
Essner, and Great Atlantic & Pacific
Tea Company executive chairman Christian
Haub, were honored for their work with the
organization.
Founded 20 years ago by singer/songwriter Paul Simon
and pediatrician/child advocate Dr. Irwin Redlener, The
Children's Health Fund (www.childrenshealthfund.org)
exists to serve the millions of children in America who
are not getting the health care they need. As one of
the largest health care organizations for homeless and
at-risk children in the United States, CHF delivers comprehensive
medical (including dental and mental health) services
through a national network of 21 projects, located in
both rural and urban communities of 13 states and Washington
DC.
