Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum celebrated
the eighth annual National Design Awards with a ceremony
and dinner at the museum on October 18 in New York
City.
Designer Eduardo Xol from ABC's "Extreme
Makeover: Home Edition" was the emcee of the Gala.
Award Presenters included Paul Simon,
presenting the Communications Design Award to Chip
Kidd; Jonathan Adler presenting
the Fashion Design Award to Rick Owens; Murray
Moss presenting the Design Patron Award to Maharam; Deedie
Rose presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award
to Antoine Predock; Richard
Gluckman presenting the Architecture Design
Award to Office dA; and Isaac
Mizrahi presenting the second annual People's
Design Award.
National Design Award winners and nominees attending
the Gala included Apple's Jonathan Ive,
winner, Product Design; Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen,
winner, Corporate Achievement; Michael and Stephen
Maharam, winners, Design Patron; Phillip
