The
seventh annual Box Art Auction, a benefit for East
End Hospice was held on July 14 at The Ross
School in Bridgehampton, NY. The Honorary Committee,
chaired by April Gornik and Eric
Fischl included Edward Albee, Arlene and Alan
Alda, Sheldon Harnick, and Alec
Baldwin.
More than 100 well-known artists accepted the challenge
to create art from a simple cigar box. Among those
who created a box this year were Eric Fischl, April
Gornik, Eric Ernst, Dan
Rizzie, Jack Youngerman and Howard
Kanovitz.
All proceeds benefit East End Hospice, a New York
certified hospice, which provides care for terminally
ill patients, their families, and loved ones through
an interdisciplinary team of skilled professionals
and volunteers.
