Hammond at the Friends of the High Line 8th
Annual Summer Benefit on Wednesday, June 25 at the IAC Building
in New York.
Hermine Riegerl Heller and David Heller and Sukey and Mike
Novogratz were honored for their contributions to
the Tenth Avenue Square, one of the High Line’s boldest design
features. Lismaria Falcone served as chairperson
of the benefit, which raised more than $2 million.
The evening included an exclusive preview of never-before released
images of the final designs for Section 1 and 2 (Gansevoort Street
to 30th Street). The design, by landscape architects Field Operations
and architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro, will be featured in a special
limited-edition publication, and showcased in a design video, which
debuted on the IAC’s block-long video wall.
Funds raised at the event will benefit Friends of the High Line, the
non-profit organization working with the City of New York to transform
the High Line elevated rail structure into public open space. The first
section, from Gansevoort Street to 20th Street, is scheduled to open
by the end of 2008.
