More
than 225 people came to honor Jeanette and Joseph
Neubauer of Philadelphia as they received
the Louis Marshall Award presented by The Jewish
Theological Seminary. The dinner in their
honor, which was held at The Pierre on October 15,
raised more than $1 million on behalf of JTS.
In 2001, the Neubauers established the Neubauer Family
Fellowships to help attract the best students from around
the world to The Rabbinical School, providing leaders
for the Jewish community of the twenty-first century. Since
its inception, twenty-six fellowships have been awarded,
with the first two fellows being ordained in May 2007.
The Louis Marshall Award is presented to individuals
who have demonstrated the exemplary ethics and philanthropic
commitment embodied by Louis Marshall, an esteemed constitutional
lawyer and former Board Chair of JTS.
