The Jacob
Burns Film Center in Pleasantville,
NY held their Fifth Anniversary Celebration
and Awards Dinner on September 16, under a
starry tent in Pleasantville.
Janet
Maslin, New York Times
critic, founding member and president of the
Jacob Burns Film Center Board of Directors and Nancy
Kohlberg were given 2006 JBFC Leadership
Awards. Author Anna Quindlen presented
Janet Maslin with the award and journalist Bill
Moyers presented the award to Nancy
Kohlberg. In addition, Colin Callender,
president of HBO Films, was awarded the 2006
JBFC Vision Award by filmmaker Kenneth
Branagh.
Stanley Tucci served
as Master of Ceremonies and auctioneer for the
Live Auction. Other
celebrities in attendance were: Matt
Dillon, Jonathan Demme, Debra
Winger, Arliss Howard, Paul
Schrader, Mary Beth Hurt and Julie
Taymor.
The Jacob Burns Film Center is
a nonprofit film and education organization dedicated
to: presenting
the best of independent, documentary and world
cinema, promoting visual literacy and making
film a vibrant part of the community.
