A
record-setting 800 guests enjoyed the 2007 “Strolling
Supper with Blues & News” that benefited Joan’s
Legacy: The Joan Scarangello
Foundation to Conquer Lung Cancer on November
8. The event at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz
at Lincoln Center, raised more than $1.1 Million for
lung cancer.
Network news anchors Tom Brokaw, Barbara Walters and Brian
Williams were honorary chairmen and the
night commemorated Lung Cancer Awareness Month
in New York City, with a strolling supper, gourmet
wine and spirits and a special silent auction.
Grammy-Award winning Blues artist Delbert
McClinton and Friends performed, and dozens
of “once-in-a-lifetime” prizes were available
at the silent auction.
Joan’s Legacy is named for Joan Scarangello,
a writer and non-smoker who died in 2001 at age 47
after a valiant nine-month fight with lung cancer.
Joan’s Legacy is committed to fighting lung cancer
by funding innovative research and focusing greater
attention on the world’s leading cancer killer.
Funding more than $3,000,000 in new and cutting-edge
research in just five years, Joan’s Legacy has
become the “venture capital” source
for ground-breaking lung cancer research.
