capacity audience of over 3,500 attended the Lyric
Opera of Chicago's Opening
Night Gala Benefit performance of Verdi's La
traviata at the Civic Opera House on September 29. Over
800 guests attended the sold-out Opera Ball at the
Hilton Chicago. More than $600,000 was raised by the
Women's Board of the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
The Opening Night chairman was Lili Gaubin. Mrs.
Jerry K. Pearlman was Opera Ball chairman.
