The Museum of Arts & Design (MAD) held its 2006 Visionaries! Awards gala benefit on November 15 and raised $1.5 million for exhibitions and programs. The event was held at Pier Sixty in New York City.
Honorees were the philanthropist and entrepreneur Alfred Taubman; editor-in-chief Paige Rense; artist and designer Ron Arad; and ceramic artist Toshiko Takaezu. Their remarkable achievements have established new benchmarks of excellence and exemplify the forward momentum of the Museum.
Visionaries! annually celebrates exceptional, culturally engaged corporate executives and bestows lifetime achievement awards on extraordinary artists and designers who have advanced the fields of art, craft and design. The event is MAD’s most important annual fundraiser and helps underwrite exhibitions and educational programs. Event co-chairs were Jerome A. Chazen, chairman emeritus of the museum, and Barbara Tober, chairman of the MAD Board of Trustees.
