Columbia University's Miller Theatre, New York's premiere venue for adventurous classical music, held its Fourth Annual Spring Gala on June 14 in a tent under the stars on Columbia's South Lawn.
The 2007 Spring Gala honored H. F. (Gerry) Lenfest, the visionary philanthropist and cable executive, for his extraordinary commitment and contributions to the arts and to Columbia. Co-chairing the gala were Peter K. Scaturro, former CEO of U.S. Trust Company, his wife Kathy Scaturro, Lee Bollinger, president of Columbia University, and his wife Jean Magnano Bollinger. The Gala featured a performance by Masada Oud Music, a group of top jazz and world music artists handpicked by Miller favorite John Zorn, the downtown legend and 2007 recipient of Columbia University's prestigious William Schuman Award.
Proceeds from the gala will benefit Miller Theatre's performing arts series, helping to assure Miller's place as a lightning rod in New York's cultural life for years to come.
