On
October 20, the Women's Association of NJPAC held
their 10th Anniversary Season Spotlight Gala at
the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark,
New Jersey. Starring Newark's own award-winning Queen
Latifah, performing with the New
Jersey Symphony Orchestra under the direction
of Maestro Neeme Järvi, the
event grossed more than $3 million.
Fittingly, for the Arts Center's 10th Anniversary,
the evening honored the three men who have served as
chair or co-chair of the NJPAC Board of Directors,
founding chair Raymond G. Chambers, former
co-chairman Dr. P. Roy Vagelos, and
current co-chairman Arthur F. Ryan. The
Honorable Thomas H. Kean, former New Jersey
Governor and the man credited with the original idea
to build the Arts Center, served as the event's
honorary chair.
This year's Gala co-chairs were Judy
Bedol, Patricia A. Chambers, Sheila F. Klehm and Nancy
Taylor. The Gala Committee
included Mary Beth Backof, Audrey Bartner,
Patricia Capawana, Barbara Bell
Coleman, Christine C. Gilfillan, Veronica Goldberg,
Ruth C. Lipper, Pamela T. Miller, Esq., Gabriella E.
Morris, Esq., Ferlanda Fox Nixon, Esq., Patricia E.
Ryan, Suzanne M. Spero, and Diana
T. Vagelos.
