On
June 1, The New York Botanical Garden held
its annual spring gala, The Conservatory Ball. Over
700 guests enjoyed the elegant evening which
was held among the Garden's magnificent
landscape of flowering trees, beautiful herb
garden, and thousands of peonies. The event
raised $1.8 million for the Botanical Garden
and will support its internationally acclaimed
programs in children's education and
botanical research.
The Gala chairmen were Mrs. Richard
L. Chilton, Jr. and Mrs.
Marvin H. Davidson. The chairman
was William D. Rondina. The
Chairmen's Committee consisted of Mrs.
Jeremy H. Biggs, Mrs. Coleman
P. Burke, Mai Hallingby
Harrison, Mrs. John S. Hilson, Mrs.
Charles B. Johnson, Mrs.
Carlisle Jones, and Mrs.
John R. Robinson. The principal
benefactors for The Conservatory Ball were The
Carlisle Collection and Mr.
and Mrs. Charles B. Johnson.
