New York Philharmonic Opening Night Gala


The New York Philharmonic concert was simulcast to an audience in Lincoln Center's outdoor plaza.

The New York Philharmonic opened its 165th season on September 13 at Avery Fisher Hall. Over 930 guests enjoyed the elegant evening that raised a record breaking $3.15 million.

Under the direction of Music Director
Lorin Maazel, with Emanuel Ax and Yefim Bronfman at piano, the New York Philharmonic performed Mozart's Concerto for Two Pianos in E-flat major, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, “Eroica.”

This year's celebration chairmen included:
