To
commemorate the beginning of the 2007-2008 season and
the final year as Maestro for Leonard Slatkin,
the National Symphony Orchestra hosted
its annual Season Opening Ball on September 16 at the
Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Superstar American soprano Renée
Fleming and the talented young Chinese pianist Peng
Peng joined Mr. Slatkin for a memorable performance
in the Kennedy Center's Concert Hall, followed
by elegant dining and dancing on the South Plaza.

Gupta served as chairmen for this year's
Ball. All proceeds of the evening support the
Orchestra's many artistic, education, and community
outreach programs.
