The
Norton Museum of Art's annual Bals Des Arts
2007—The Glory of Genius was held
at The Breakers Hotel of Palm Beach on February 3. The
elegant event included a cocktail reception, a gourmet
dinner and dancing to the incomparable musical stylings
of Samy Goz, direct from Paris. A highlight of the
evening was the raffle which featured a white gold
Van Cleef & Arpels Papillion brooch valued at
over $30,000 as the grand prize, as well as other magnificent
prizes.
The Bal des Arts 2007 theme—Glory
of Genius—was inspired by the Norton Museum
of Art's exhibition schedule which focuses
on the genius of American artists and collectors,
in particular, the Impressionist collection of Sterling and Francine
Clark, the abstracted paintings of Georgia
O'Keeffe, and the fashion ensembles
of Iris Apfel. Chairmen for The
Bals Des Arts 2007 were Diana Ecclestone and Thomas
Quick. Dame Celia Lipton Farris was
the International Honorary chairwoman. The proceeds
from the event are to benefit the Museum's
exhibitions and educational programs.
