The Norton
Museum of Art hosted its annual Premier
event on February 23 for 200 benefactors and guests
to celebrate the highly anticipated opening of the
new exhibition, Rare Bird of Fashion: The Irreverent
Iris Apfel.
The elegant black-tie event with a modern
twist took place in the Museum's Tsai Atrium.
Suspended from the ceiling in the center of the open,
spiral of the staircase hung a contemporary “chandelier” made
entirely of Iris Apfel's signature
oversized, round eyeglasses. The room was decorated
by Bruce Sutka to emulate El Morocco, a famous New
York City jazz club, which is also a theme of one of
the six tableaux vivantes found within the exhibition.
White paper palm trees, sleek mod furniture, cool blue
lighting and an ice-like bar completed the look.
The evening's chairmen were Mrs.
Jeffrey Fisher and Mrs. T. Suffern
Tailer. The co-chairmen were Mrs.
Edward Elson, Mrs. Sidney Kohl, Mrs.
Wilbur Ross and Mrs. Frances Scaife. |
