On
December 11, The Partnership for Public
Service - a non-partisan, non-profit
organization dedicated to the revitalization
of federal government service - honored Senator
Joseph Lieberman with its Theodore Roosevelt
Award for the Advancement of Public Service at
a glittering black tie event at Cipriani 42nd
Street in Manhattan. Actor Dennis
Haysbert, recently starring in the hit
television drama “24”, also received
an award for his positive portrayal of a public
servant. New York City Police Commissioner Raymond
Kelly presented the honors. The event
raised over $2 million, with over 700 guests
in attendance.
Broadcast journalist and
interviewer Tom
Brokaw was master of ceremonies while John
Lloyd Young, with fellow cast members
of “Jersey Boys,” performed at
the event.
Others on hand to congratulate Senator
Lieberman and the Partnership included: former
Governor Mario
Cuomo; former New York State Attorney
General Robert Abrams; former
Senator Alfonse D'Amato;
NBC Weekend Today Show co-anchor Campbell
Brown; Fox News commentator Dan
Senor; and president of the Motion Picture
Association Dan Glickman.
