The Rita Hayworth Gala, the annual benefit for the Alzheimer’s Association took place on November 14 in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. The event which featured a special performance by Michael McDonald, raised over $3.1 million for the Alzheimer’s Association.
In recognition of her years of dedication to Alzheimer’s disease awareness and research, Phyllis George was this year’s honoree. Princess Yasmin Aga Khan was General chair, Deborah Grubman was the Gala chair, Donna Dixon Aykroyd was the Gala vice chair, Allen Brill was the Underwriting chair, Muffie Potter Aston was the Sponsor chair, Claudia Cohen and Susan Hess were the Auction co-chairs, Nurit Kahane Haase was the Journal chair, Anne R. Hearst and Andrea Stark were the Gift Bag co-chairs, Mark Locks and Dennis Basso were the Corporate Committee co-chairs, Hilary Dick was the Associates Committee chair and Rolex Watch USA, Inc. was the gala’s underwriter.
The Alzheimer’s Association, the world leader in Alzheimer research and support, is the first and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to finding prevention methods, treatments and an eventual cure for Alzheimer’s.
