Inspired
by the legendary Rita Hayworth film Pal Joey,
this year's Alzheimer's Association
Rita Hayworth Gala – Bewitched,
Bothered & Bewildered was an extraordinary
and glamorous evening. This annual benefit for
the Alzheimer's Associationtook place on October
10 in the the Waldorf=Astoria Hotel and raised $2 million
for the Alzheimer's Association.
Nurit Kahane Haase was the 2007 Rita
Hayworth Award recipient and John K. Castle,
chairman, Castle Harlan, was the 2007 Corporate
honoree. Princess Yasmin
Aga Khan was General chair, and Louise
Kornfeld was the Gala chair. Allen
Brill was the Underwriting chair, Muffie
Potter Aston was the Sponsor chair, Donna
Dixon Aykroyd, Anne R. Hearst and Susan
Hess were the Auction co-chairs, Michele
Herbert was the Journal chair, Hilary
Dick and Andrea Stark were
the Gift Bag co-chairs, Dennis Basso, Michael
Fuchs and Mark Locks were
the Corporate Committee co-chairs, Karyn Kornfeld was
the Associates Committee chair and Rolex Watch
USA, Inc. was the gala's underwriter.
Princess Yasmin and the Alzheimer's Association
announced the creation of the Claudia Cohen Critical
Initiative to End Alzheimer's. This legacy
to Claudia will provide ongoing funds to fuel research
to eliminate Alzheimer's and help provide the
best care possible for those afflicted with the disease.
The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary
health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research. Our
mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through
the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care
and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk
of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our
vision is a world without Alzheimer's.
