The
much anticipated 30th Annual American Red Cross Designers'
Show House opened its doors to guests on January 11
with a sold-out Preview Party hosted at the Providencia
Park home. The Designers' Show House, held January
12 – February 4, brought together acclaimed designers
who redecorated a prominent 1920's West Palm Beach
residence room-by-room, showcasing their individual
talents and styles.
On
hand to welcome guests were Desmond Keogh, chairman;
Bill Kopp, design chairman; and Stephen Mooney, co-design
chairman.
The
Moroccan-themed party, in concert with the architecture
of the home, featured authentic belly dancers, traditional
music, and an exotic menu courtesy of Christafaro's
Catering and acclaimed restaurant, Leila. Rich reds,
terra cotta accents, low-lying candles and pillowed
seating added to the ambiance of the evening.
The
impressive Show House, located at 1201 North Flagler
Drive, is rich with Palm Beach history. Owned by West
Palm Beach attorneys Steve Mayans, and his wife, Terry
Resk, the home was designed by renowned architects Harvey
& Clark, who also designed the Palm Beach Town Hall,
Holy Trinity Church, Seaboard Train Station and the
Comeau Building. The home was built in 1925 by Spencer
Lainhart, an original South Florida pioneer. The 5,400
square-foot two-story Mediterranean-inspired Providencia
Park residence boasts five bedrooms, three bathrooms
and spacious living areas with original Mexican tile
and hardwood floors. Solid mahogany doors, beveled glass
windows and ornately stenciled beams outlining a lofty
ceiling further add to the charm and character of the
home.
