More
than 350 members of New York's philanthropic,
business, government and civic communities gathered
on September 26 at the fifth annual Tuesday's
Children “A Toast to New York” benefit
to honor Katie Couric - anchor and
managing editor of the CBS Evening News with Katie
Couric; Larry Levy - founder and chairman
of the America's Camp Foundation; and Patrick
Ryan - founder and executive chairman of AON
Corporation for their unwavering support of 9/11 families.
The event, held at the New York Marriot Marquis Hotel,
was emceed by WFAN radio personality Mike Francesa.
Tuesday's Children Board chairman Jonathan
S. Barnett and organization president Carmine
Calzonetti presented the 2007 Leadership
Awards to Messrs. Levy and Ryan. Ms. Couric
was unable to attend due to work obligations, but
graciously accepted her Leadership Award via videoconference. She
congratulated Tuesday's Children for all it
has done to assist 9/11 families.
The event raised funds to benefit Tuesday's Children's
wide range of services and programs for 9/11 family members
and rescue and recovery workers. Programs include
including Next Steps, Career Paths, Mentoring, First
Steps in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Boston and
Washington, D.C., Tuesday's Champions and Project
Common Bond.
