Visitors to Atlanta’s High Museum
of Art will be able to view hundreds of masterpieces from
the Louvre in Paris from October 2006 - 2009, thanks to an
unprecedented partnership between the museums. The Louvre
Atlanta collaboration will also include educational programs,
joint bilingual publications, conferences, films and seminars.
The High won’t have a problem accommodating national
and international art lovers, having initiated a building
expansion program in the late 1990s. Designed by Italian
architect Renzo Piano, three new buildings more than doubled
the Museum’s original size to 312,000 square feet,
creating a dynamic “village for the arts” that
had its grand opening in November 2005.
